Matt Buckley started weekly physio sessions with my 88 year old mother-in-law Chris in her home about 4 months ago, as her mobility was reducing noticeably.  He is clearly interested in the physical challenges of old age, and is determined that confidence and strength can be rebuilt, with surprisingly good results.

Matt has a warm and caring manner, treating Chris with humour and respect, and although she knows she will be made to work hard during the session, she always looks forward to seeing him.  Matt is encouraging and persistent, and expects her to be able to do things she thinks might be beyond her.  In the end of course, she can do them, and is pleased with herself - this not only helps with her mobility but is also good for her general wellbeing.

I would whole-heartedly recommend Matt to anyone needing physio in their own home, and particularly for an older person.  His interest in his patient is genuine and so his treatment is focussed on them and their needs: if it’s a nice day, a walk in the garden will be suggested, rather than another walk round the lounge.  On one memorable occasion, a short walk to the pub was very eagerly undertaken: a reward for lots of hard work!  Physio is about more than physical rehabilitation: with older people it’s also about confidence and happiness.  This seems to be Matt’s philosophy, and it shows in his practice.

My 83-year-old husband had a fall 5 weeks ago, fortunately, nothing was broken, but a painful back injury left him in considerable pain and very limited mobility The pain killing tablets he was prescribed did nothing to help his pain or mobility. In desperation we called Matt in for help advice and treatment. Within two weeks and 3 visits from this amazing physiotherapist David is back on his feet and moving about better than before his fall. Thank you so much for your incredible expertise, care, and understanding and for getting David up and about again. Matt is a truly remarkable professional with great skill and knowledge and gets 10 stars from us . 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

"I came to see Matt at my wit's end as the pain I experienced had been becoming increasingly severe and debilitating over a 5/6 month period from November 2016. I was being over-medicalised with NHS promoting strong pain-killers & my consultant had recommended a knee replacement in the short term. The pain was impacting my mobility, my quality of life and my mood. Matt suggested a different approach. His excellent coaching, encouragement and clear explanation of the process (including brain training) and realistic goals were vital to my successful treatment. It's a brave approach, as despite being in pain i had to trust his advice. On holiday in August 2017 I hiked and swam in the sea. All these things seemed impossible just 5 months earlier. Matt's help and expert advice possibly kept me in the workforce as it felt like an unsustainable condition to be in. We are now working on conditioning in the Gym. I feel he has gone above and beyond in his support and treatment."

I underwent ACL & cartilage surgery in October 2017. Since then I’ve been doing rehabilitation with Matt. In the months following he has provided me with some revolutionary techniques and exercises to really facilitate my recovery into sport and build my fitness back up. He has used a very pragmatic approach to pain and pushing my boundaries safely to build muscle, help movement and build stability. Overall, I am very happy with the progress so far and he offers amazing, helpful, friendly and assured advice and is always available if I ever have concerns over a particular exercise programme or routine he has built for me.  At the 3 month stage I am feeling fit and well on the way to a successful return to sport, his motivation to help me achieve has been unparalleled. If you are looking for top advice, I strongly advocate consulting Matt.

“I have seen Matt many times for a variety of injuries, he is a fantastic physiotherapist. He is very detailed within his diagnoses, he explains exactly what is going on and develops a personalised exercise programmes to my needs. He even helped me overcome an injured plantar fascia when doctors ruled out a return to football. His knowledge is vast, and his professionalism is second to none. I would recommend him to anyone requiring treatment. He always has a positive attitude and is very approachable, no issue is too small for Matt. I can honestly say, if it hadn’t have been for Matt, I would have retired from football many years ago, Matt gave me the hope that no injury cannot be treated”

‘Over the past 4 to 5 years now, Matt has worked with me on rehabilitating numerous sports injuries. Helping me recover from two shoulder operations and a number of injuries through playing basketball and using the gym. Injuries from joint impingement, to knee pain to back pain. Matt has always not only treated my symptoms quickly, but always with a great deal of consideration and understanding of how I got the injuries and more importantly, provided me with the knowledge to prevent further injuries from being endured in the future. Matt has a great way of empathising with you when explaining how injuries have occurred and always breaks down and explains in simple terms how you not only developed the problem, but also how he can assist in fixing it.  No matter the issue, Matt always shows optimism and confidence that he can help you, which is always not only very reassuring that you can get back to your training/sports/activities but also its very motivating knowing that you have someone who can get you back in good shape. Without a doubt I’d always recommend Matt to anyone who needs injury treatment/prevention or rehab. ‘
