A bit about me.

Matt Buckley

My name is Matt Buckley. These are some of my favourite pictures of my family. My eldest son is called Jacob and is two years old. His younger brother Isaac is aged one. My wife is called Sarah and we have a lovely dog Lola. I'm extremely proud of our little family unit and want my patients to know a little bit about us all. We currently live in East Bridgford in Nottingham and Sarah and I are loving watching the boys grow up!

I started South Notts Physiotherapy as a way of making high-quality Physiotherapy accessible directly to people's homes in the South Nottinghamshire area (although I will endeavour to be flexible on this if you live elsewhere!)

When not working, we spend our days chasing around after the boys & Lola, we're permanently outside in wellies covered in mud (that's how it feels anyway!) and I'd have it no other way. I love to Snowboard, Surf, I try to keep fit and practise what I preach. I definitely consider myself very fortunate that I love what I do.

I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2006 in Manchester. I started work at Nottingham University Hospitals trust immediately & worked there for almost 5 years across a lot of different fields of Medicine / Physiotherapy. From the Gym to Geriatrics, from Prosthetics to Paediatrics, from Orthopaedics to Out-patients & I thoroughly enjoyed gaining as much experience as I could.

I moved from the NHS to working in Private Practice in 2010 joining the team at Peak Wellbeing, Radcliffe-on-Trent (formally Radcliffe Physiotherapy). As well as working here I started working for Mars UK heading up an Occupational Health Physiotherapy service running two clinics across different Mars UK sites. Here I gained valuable experience working in the field of Occupational Health.

I have completed post-graduate training in manual therapy, manipulation, chronic pain management, Movement Analysis, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and believe in making Physiotherapy intervention personalised and holistic.

Over the years I have met hundreds of people with a multitude of issues. I believe pain is a very personal thing; no two presentations are ever the same and managing an individual should be seen as just that. We aim to manage you, not just your injury.

I believe in Evidence-Based Medicine. I will not deal in fads. I believe with some guidance all individuals have the ability to understand and manage their own symptoms (regardless of background/fitness levels etc.) and I wholeheartedly promote self-management where possible.

I take real pleasure from working with our retired population too. I do regular Nursing Home and Residential Home visits & take great pride in making our services available to those who find it difficult to access clinic-based appointments.

Which brings me to South Notts Physiotherapy. My goal is to make Physiotherapy accessible to all & branch out from the clinic environment where necessary. I have met a number of people over the years in need of assistance but unable to attend a clinic. South Notts Physiotherapy provides treatment & rehabilitation to the older or less fortunate population. People who have had falls, people who are becoming increasingly frail, people who are motivated to improve their mobility & quality of life but are in a position where they're not able to practise. Perhaps you see your parents or loved-ones becoming increasingly frail and you're not sure if anything can be done? For more information on the types of people we can help, visit our patient story section here.

I aim to encourage people with deteriorating function to improve, I believe we are all capable of getting stronger & safer on our feet, I believe we all have the capacity to improve our quality of life.  I am really interested in hearing people's stories, opinions, perspectives & love to educate, empower & improve people's quality of lives as well as physical function.

I would love to hear from you if you have any queries, questions or issues. Feel free to e-mail me directly at:

Above all else, I believe in the adaptability of the human body. I think we can all achieve changes in strength, fitness, flexibility, sensitivity if we'd only take the time to ask the body to adapt. This is my message. I'd love to talk you about your personal issues if you're in need of any assistance.
